Every PC, MAC, or server is prone to threats in the cyber world. Today, even tablets and mobile phones are prone to various security challenges. All of these systems and devices require a good antivirus program to keep them safe.
Most antivirus programs come with a “subscription” or a validity period beyond which it expires and one needs to renew the subscription. The validity period of an antivirus program may vary. Some antivirus programs may be valid for a year while others are three years to five years. There are also trial versions that can come with as little as a week. Once the antivirus software has expired (or close to it), it is important to renew your subscription.
There are many reasons why you should renew, but we’ll look at the most obvious reason – to protect your computer, laptop, mac, server, tablet or mobile device from viruses, hackers, and spyware.
Antivirus programs are unable to properly protect your computer after its subscription has expired. Antivirus programs operate with a database full of viruses and threats. They get daily and sometimes hourly updates to stay “educated” on the latest and greatest threats. When the updates are no longer current, the antivirus become less effective to prevent virus attacks. it still works, it just doesn’t know what to look for. You are more likely to get infected by a virus that was released today, then one from last year.
Every day, new viruses, malware and spyware are being uncovered and as they are quarantined or fixed, the developers of antivirus programs update everyone with a current subscription so users are protected.
If you do not renew your antivirus subscription, the first thing you lose is having your program updated. With some antivirus programs, if you do not renew the license, then you may not be able to use the program any longer.
You should renew your antivirus subscription without any second thoughts. If you have experienced limited success fighting viruses with the program you have, then upgrade to a better one. Don’t just let yours expire.
