Spam, spam, spam. The whole reason we spend time making sure our clients legitimate email gets delivered is because so much spam exists. There is nothing worse than sending an email and waiting hours for a response just to find out they never got it because it went to spam.
You can never guarantee every email gets delivered, but there are 3 easy things you can do to increase your email delivery. This is not a how to guide. This is brief explanation of the 3 critical email records, and what they do.
- SPF. (Sender Policy Framework) This is the most important email record. SPF tells the world that your are authorized to send email on your company’s behalf. Many mail servers will automatically classify any email without a valid SPF record as spam.
- DKIM. (DomainKeys Identified Mail) Emails that are signed with DKIM appear more legitimate to your recipients and are less likely to go to Junk or Spam folders.
- DMARC. (Domain-based Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance) This is the latest security feature for emails. With DMARC, in place, domain owners can combat email compromise, phishing and spoofing.
MX Toolbox is a tool we use to check the email records for a domain. If you’d like to improve your email delivery, make sure you have valid SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.
