If when you log into your company Microsoft account and you see this:
you have a personal Microsoft account that is using your work email address. This creates problems as computers and websites are often confused about which account you are logged into and which services and features you have access to.
One issue is you may not be able to see all the documents you created in One Drive or view documents that were shared with you. Additionally, you may not see the entire list of users in Teams, or may not be able to meet with some (or all) team members. The list of issues is endless. The fix is simple: unlink your personal Microsoft account from your work address.
If you are unsure if you need to unlink your personal account, try to login here with your work email. If you see this:
Then there is not a personal account linked to your work email. If you see this:
Then you have a personal email account that is linked to your work email.
Unlinking your personal account is very easy if you know the password to your personal Microsoft account. if the password is not known, do a password reset. The email should go to your work email allowing you to reset the password of your personal Microsoft account.
Once you have the password to your personal Microsoft account, we can proceed with the change. The end goal is to change the email attached to your personal Microsoft account, allowing you to remove your work email from that account. Follow theses steps to unlink your work email.
